Ingredients

Oil for frying: Use a neutral oil like vegetable or canola oil for frying.
8 oz softened cream cheese: Provides the creamy base for the filling.
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese: Adds a sharp, cheesy flavor.
1/4 cup diced jalapeños: Brings the heat to the dish.
1/2 cup crumbled cooked bacon: Adds a smoky, savory element.
1 cup panko bread crumbs: For a crunchy exterior.
2 eggs, beaten: Helps the bread crumbs adhere to the cheese balls.

Instructions
Preparing the Cheese Balls

  1. Mixing the Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, diced jalapeños, and crumbled bacon. Stir until all the ingredients are well combined. The mixture should be smooth and easy to handle.
  2. Shaping the Balls: Using your hands or a small scoop, roll the cheese mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Coating: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Place the panko bread crumbs in another shallow dish. Dip each cheese ball into the beaten eggs, ensuring it is fully coated. Then, roll the egg-coated ball in the panko bread crumbs, pressing gently to help the crumbs adhere. Repeat this process with all the cheese balls.
  4. Chilling: Once all the cheese balls are coated, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Chilling helps the cheese balls firm up, making them easier to fry without falling apart.

Frying the Cheese Balls

Draining: Use the slotted spoon to remove the fried cheese balls from the oil. Place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Heating the Oil: Preheat your deep fryer or skillet to 350°F (180°C). If using a skillet, make sure the oil is deep enough to submerge the cheese balls halfway.

Frying in Batches: Carefully lower a few cheese balls into the hot oil using a slotted spoon. Fry the cheese balls for about 2-3 minutes, turning them occasionally to ensure they cook evenly on all sides. They should be golden brown and crispy when done.
