1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon butter extract
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup cream soda

For the Butterscotch Frosting:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup butterscotch sauce (store-bought or homemade)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon butter extract
3 cups powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons heavy cream (as needed)

For Garnish:
Butterscotch sauce (for drizzling)
Golden sprinkles (optional)

Directions:
Prepare the Cupcakes:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract and butter extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk and cream soda, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cupcakes to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Butterscotch Frosting:
In a large bowl, beat softened butter until creamy.
Add butterscotch sauce, vanilla extract, and butter extract, and beat until combined.
Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until the frosting reaches the desired consistency.

Frost the Cupcakes:
Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost them with the butterscotch frosting using a piping bag or spatula.
Drizzle the frosted cupcakes with additional butterscotch sauce and sprinkle with golden sprinkles, if desired.

Serve:
Enjoy your magical Harry Potter Butterbeer Cupcakes!
