Easy homemade cinnamon roll cake

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
6 egg whites (save yolks for another use)
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water

For the Frosting:
1 1/2 cups butter
1 1/2 cups shortening
12 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup milk

For the Cinnamon Topping:
5 tablespoons powdered sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons water
Instructions:

Prepare the Cake:
Preheat your oven to the temperature specified in your cake pan’s directions.
Cream together 1/2 cup butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until fluffy.
Add 1/2 cup sour cream and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, then beat in 6 egg whites.
In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 4 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup water, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Pour the batter into prepared cake pans and bake according to the directions on the cake pan.

Make the Frosting:
In a large bowl, whip together 1 1/2 cups butter, 1 1/2 cups shortening, 12 cups powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/2 cup milk until creamy and smooth.

Assemble the Cake:
Once the cakes are cooled, spread the frosting over each layer.
For the cinnamon topping, mix 5 tablespoons powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons water until smooth.
Frost each layer with the cinnamon topping mixture.
Stack the cake layers and finish with frosting on the top and around the sides. Optionally, pipe decorations on top.
