Ground Beef with Baked Potatoes

Ground beef with baked potatoes is a comforting and satisfying dish that brings together hearty flavors and textures. This recipe combines seasoned ground beef cooked in a rich tomato sauce, served over fluffy baked potatoes, and topped with creamy cottage cheese and melted mozzarella. Ingredients:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • Oil (for baking and cooking)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Oregano (to taste)
  • 400 g ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 400 g tomato sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 200 g cottage cheese
  • Mozzarella (shredded)
  • Parsley (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Potatoes:

    • Cut the potatoes in half, then into slices.
    • In a pan, add oil and the sliced potatoes. Fry for about 15 minutes over medium heat.
    • Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and oregano. Mix well.
  2. Bake the Potatoes:

    • Transfer the potatoes to a baking dish, spreading them out evenly.
  3. Cook the Ground Beef:

    • In the same pan, add the ground beef and stir until fully broken down.
    • Add the chopped onion and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
    • Stir in the tomato sauce, salt, black pepper, and oregano. Mix well.
    • Add the minced garlic and mix again.
    • Pour in the water, add the bay leaves, and stir. Cover and cook on low heat for 7 minutes.
  4. Assemble the Dish:

    • Pour the cooked meat mixture over the potatoes, spreading it evenly.
    • Add the cottage cheese on top, followed by the mozzarella.
    • Sprinkle with parsley and oregano, drizzle with olive oil.
  5. Bake:

    • Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
